UBS works with trio of Barclays lenders in U.S. financial investment banking push

In a push to broaden its U.S. investment-banking offerings, UBS employed Marco Valla as co-head of the global-banking department, together with Javier Oficialdegui. Valla changes Ros L’Esperance, who will produce a brand-new business advisory group. The relocation comes a month after UBS accepted buy Credit Suisse. “The acquisition of Credit Suisse, together with our previously approved investment plans, provides us with an unparalleled opportunity to expand the size and scope of our global-banking footprint, particularly in the Americas,” Rob Karofsky, president of UBS’s financial investment bank, stated in a memo to personnel. Jeff Hinton, most just recently co-head of the Americas mergers and acquisitions service at Barclays, and Kurt Anthony, a handling director in Barclays’s consumer-retail group, will likewise sign up with UBS. —Jenny Surane, Blooomberg News
