New York City (Reuters) – Former Brazilian reserve bank chief Ilan Goldfajn will end up being the head of the International Monetary Fund’s Western Hemisphere department beginning next year, the IMF’s director revealed on Monday.

“I am delighted that Ilan will join our team as the new (Western Hemisphere) Director,” Kristalina Georgieva, the IMF’s handling director, stated in a declaration.

“His tested performance history as a policymaker, communicator, in addition to his depth of understanding as a worldwide financing executive and his familiarity with the Fund’s work will be vital in assisting our member nations in the area,” Ms. Georgieva specified.
