New Orders for Manufactured Goods Increase in September

New orders for made items in September, up sixteen of the last seventeen months, increased $1.3 billion or 0.2% to $515.9 billion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Shipments, likewise up sixteen of the last seventeen months, increased $3.2 billion or 0.6 percent to $511.5 billion.

New orders for made long lasting items in September, down following 4 successive regular monthly boosts, reduced $0.9 billion or 0.3% to $261.4 billion, up from the formerly released 0.4% decline.

Shipments of made long lasting items in September, up 4 of the last 5 months, increased $1.1 billion or 0.4% to 257.0 billion, the same from the formerly released decline. Inventories of made long lasting items in September, up 8 successive months, increased 0.9% or $4.2 billion to $462.9 billion, the same from the previous month.
