Senate validates Fed elections for Jefferson, Cook

The Senate today verified the elections of Philip Jefferson to work as vice chairman of the Federal Reserve board and Lisa Cook to serve an extra term.
Jefferson signed up with the Fed board in 2022 to fill an unexpired term ending in 2036. He most just recently was VP for scholastic affairs and dean of professors and the Paul B. Freeland Professor of Economics at Davidson College. He will serve a four-year term as vice chairman. The vote was 88-10. Cook, a teacher of economics and global relations at Michigan State University, signed up with the Fed board in 2022 to fill an unexpired term ending in 2024. The Senate voted 51-47 to validate Cook for an extra 14-year term.
President Joe Biden likewise chose economic expert Adriana Kugler to fill an unexpired term board ending in 2026. The Senate did not vote on her election today.
